Covid 19 deaths – Scotland 4,000

Confirmed cases 15,665

This will be an underestimate of the number of cases. Not everyone with the virus will display symptoms and not all those with symptoms will be tested.

Schools

Schools and early learning

In June, Phase 1 will see staff returning to schools, support for an increased number of children accessing critical childcare provision, re-opening of childminding services and outdoor nursery provision, plus transition support for children due to start P1 and S1 (wherever possible).

The Children’s Parliament are seeking the views of children and their experience of Covid 19. You can find out more and take part here:

Social Distancing
There have been issues in the Kirkgate, Crown Place and Leith Links where excess alcohol consumption has led to individuals acting without regard to others. This has seen Police intervention to halt this behaviour and to remind people to take Government advice (see above), seriously. In the instance of the Spey offering ‘takeaway beer’ that was immediately consumed outside, local residents and myself contacted Police to make them aware of this problem and it was tackled fairly quickly.
Should this recur you can report this to:

Leith Gala Day

Saturday 13th June would have been Leith Gala Day. Our friends at Leith Festival took the difficult decision to cancel earlier due to Covid 19.
If the situation improves then there may be a wee event later in the year. In the meantime keep an eye on their social media as they plan on marking Leith Festival 2020 see here http://leithfestival.com/ and their Facebook page.
To keep you going, here’s a few images from my scrapbook of Galas gone by.
