Still Fighting for our Values -; thank you to our voters

There’s no escaping this has been another bad night for Labour in Scotland. This isn’t the time or place for sounding off with instant solutions and soundbites  -; our problems run deeper than that, and we plan to address them.

As chair of this local Labour Party what I will say is very many thanks to Lesley Hinds , our candidate, Anne McCluskey, our agent, and everyone who contributed to the campaign -; on the doorsteps, behind the scenes, raising funds. And special thanks to the 10,000 plus constituents who stuck with Labour again -; we don’t take your support for granted. Thanks too to Malcolm Chisholm who served this constituency so well over the years.

Also thanks to Kezia Dugdale for having the guts to lead our party at a difficult time. In my view this is no time for a another change of leader, it’s time for the party to change the way it goes about its job.

So we all need a wee rest and a period of reflection before our members meet next on 19 May -; there are more challenges ahead. The Labour movement hasn’t achieved everything it has over the years without setbacks along the way -; the point is to learn from them and come back stronger.
