Lesley’s campaign to be the Member of the Scottish Parliament for Edinburgh Northern and Leith started yesterday.  Our campaign office is at 36 Great Junction Street – so do come along.

Lesley has represented this part of Edinburgh on the Council for many years. For four years she was our Lord Provost. Recently the Evening News put her at No 1 for impact on the city. But here’s a little bit more information.

She trained as a teacher and has raised three children of her own. So she knows our children need a better start in life than they get now. We’re seeing cuts to schools and colleges and that’s not good enough.

Edinburgh University gave her a Doctorate for her work on equality. She is always working to close that gap between rich and poor.

She chaired our local Police Board. She knows everyone wants to be safe but the SNP has broken the link between police and our communities.

She’s a Fellow of Telford College. She has seen the hope fresh skills bring and the hardship college cuts have brought.

She chaired the Forth Bridge board until the SNP abolished it. Remove local control and you get last winter ‘s mayhem  of Bridge closures and emergency repairs.

She’s the city’s “Green Champion”. To protect our planet  Labour believes we all must recycle more waste and travel more by bus, bike and foot.
