So much for fixed term parliaments – remember, never, ever trust a Tory.
Whatever the motivation behind the General Election announcement – political opportunism or whatever– we face an almighty challenge.
The SNP wanted to turn the council elections into a mini-referendum on their obsession with the magic of independence, but the Tories have trumped them. And the debate about local services, and their effective delivery, suffers as a consequence............as do the recipients of those vital services.
As for Labour here in Northern & Leith, we’ll continue campaigning on the issues that matter to our community, while readying ourselves for the challenges ahead. When we receive advice from the party at Scottish/UK level, we’ll get on with selecting a candidate to represent us in the General Election
Hard times, so thanks for sticking with Labour.
